IANS Convention and the COVID-19 Delta Variant
IANS is aware of the spread of the SARS-COV-2 Delta Variant, a new strain of the virus that causes COVID-19. IANS is closely monitoring the changing situation and will follow recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Iowa Department of Health (IDH). Currently, IANS plans to hold its 2021 Convention as scheduled in a live, in-person format. To ensure the comfort and safety of our guests, IANS asks that participants wear a face covering while attending the convention.
IANS wishes to remind all guests that if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, diarrhea, and/or recent loss of taste and/or smell) or have tested positive for the virus within 10 days leading up to Convention (September 10, 2021), to please refrain from attending this year's event. We will miss you and look forward to seeing you next year.
Will I have to wear a mask at IANS even if I'm vaccinated?
Yes. To mitigate the spread of the Delta Variant, IANS kindly requests and requires that all participants attending the IANS convention wear disposable or cloth face coverings (masks) while indoors unless they are speaking into a microphone, drinking, or eating. Face coverings must be worn properly, covering the entire nose and mouth. Participants are encouraged to frequently wash their hands in between activities.
Will masks be provided at IANS?
No. Guests are asked to bring their own mask from home. This may be a medical-grade or surgical mask, a homemade cloth mask, a mask with your school logo or mascot, or any other appropriate design. Face shields covering the entire face may be worn by those who are unable to safely wear a face covering.
