- Marshall is from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA. He is currently in his fourth and final year of the program. In addition to being the President of IANS, Marshall acts as the President of the Mount Mercy University Association of Nursing Students, having been a board member since 2018. Marshall is passionate about intensive care and critical care nursing as well as nursing education. He plans to pursue his PhD to research nursing informatics and Telehealth. When he isn’t studying or at clinical, Marshall enjoys cooking food with recipes from home and is always ready to watch a good movie.
- Preside at all meetings of the association, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee.
- Appoint special committees with the approval of the Board of Directors.
- Serve as ex-officio member of all committees, except the Nominations Committee
- Represent IANS in a matter relating to the association and perform all other duties pertaining to the office.

- Hi, my name is Kinze Brandt. I attend Grand View University in Des Moines and will graduate in December of 2021. I currently serve as the President of the Grand View Nursing Student Association but am very excited to serve as the IANS Vice President this year. My areas of interest in nursing are trauma and intensive care. I hope to enter the military after graduation and serve as a combat nurse and after I plan to continue my education to become a Nurse Practitioner. My dream position after serving in the military is to be a Flight Nurse. I enjoy anything related to art, traveling, and love spending time with my friends, family, and dogs in my free time.
- Assume the duties of the President in the absence or disability of the President.
- Assume the office of the President in case of a vacancy in the office.
- Nominate three 3-4 members for the annual state convention planning committee.
- Serve as chairperson of the planning committee for the annual state convention.
- Be responsible for visiting and recommending to the Board of Directors the annual convention site.
- Be responsible for all convention publicity including the convention program but excluding the convention edition of the IANS newsletter
- Be responsible for selecting, arranging, and planning for speakers, educational sessions, entertainment, and convention registration and all other duties pertaining to the office in collaboration with Public Relations Director, Membership Director, and Nominations and Elections Director.

- Jada Veasey attends Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to graduate with her BSN in May of 2022. In addition to her role on the state board of directors, Jada also serves as the Resolution Committee Chair for the Mount Mercy University Association of Nursing Students. Jada is very involved on campus; she is a resident assistant, a writing tutor, an intern for the department of marketing & communications, and also serves as Senior Opinion Editor of the Mount Mercy Times newspaper. After graduation, Jada would like to work in an intensive care unit. Outside of school and nursing, Jada enjoys reading, baking, and drinking overpriced coffee.
- Sign documents with the President such as, organizational papers and documents that come into their executive and administrative spheres.
- Keep in file a permanent record of all reports, papers, and documents submitted to him/her.
- Conduct general correspondence of the association as requested by the President and Board of Directors.
- Send to the headquarters of NSNA, Inc. the names and addresses of all officers and directors of their association immediately after the election.
- Submit annually the officially application for NSNA constituency status, which shall include the following areas of conformity for active and associate members: purpose and function, membership, dues, and representation.
- Keep on file a register of all constituents and their constituents and their officers and the addresses of all schools with members in this organization for correspondence, roll call, and business procedures
- Inform Board of Directors, consultants, and constituents as to the time and place of board meetings

- My name is Sydney Aitchison and I am in my third year at the University of Iowa pursuing my BSN. I currently serve as the Health Outreach Director on the University of Iowa Association of Nursing Students board (UIANS) and am excited to continue my leadership at the state level as the Membership Director for IANS. I am very passionate about pediatric nursing and labor and delivery and plan to pursue higher education in one of these two areas. This next year will be full of new experiences, and I am excited grow in this position on the 2020-2021 IANS board.
- Duties of the Membership Director:
- Recruit nursing students for membership in IANS.
- Organize contact information for schools and make available to Board Members at the beginning of the term of office.
- Serve as advisor to Board Members in planning and development of activities.
- Formulate and maintain a list of all IANS members with current school and address information to be available to the Officers and Board of Directors as necessary.

- Hi! My name is Samantha (Sami) Zeleny. I attend Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA and will graduate in May of 2022 with my BSN and Spanish degrees. I am originally from Omaha, NE (Go big red!) where I plan to return to upon graduation while continuing to advance my nursing career in a NP program. I serve as the Vice President for our university’s Honor’s Association and Spanish Club, along with being a resident assistant. I love meeting new people, doing anything artsy, spending time reading my bible and being outside on the golf course. I am not positive as to what area of nursing I see myself working in someday, but I know I will love it no matter what and I cannot wait to continue this journey.

- Alison is from Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. She is currently in her third year in the nursing program. She is excited to serve as the Public Relations Director for the 2020-2021 IANS board. At Clarke University Alison serves as a Junior Representative for Clarke Association of Nursing Students (CANS). For almost three years now she has worked at Dubuque’s local Emergency Department as a Medical Scribe. After graduation she hopes to land a job in an ER/Trauma Center, and then continue on to be a traveling ER/Trauma nurse. In her free time, you can catch her at the gym doing CrossFit, hiking with her dog Duke or spending time with friends and family.
- Publish the IANS newsletter at least three times per year.
- Collect, edit, and write articles to be printed in the IANS newsletter.
- Keep the website current with updates, scholarship, newsletters and information; and promptly submitting changes to the website developer.
- Keep social media up to date with information of upcoming events and current news.

- My name is Andrea Pingol and I will be serving as Breakthrough to Nursing Director for the 2020-2021 year. I am originally from the Philippines, but now live in Washington, IA. This drastic change in culture has opened my eyes and strengthened my passion in helping those who are underrepresented. At the University of Iowa's program Iowa Edge, I have served as a leader for incoming freshmen students who may classify as a first generation or minority student. I hope to extend to different populations through my role in IANS and help with nursing student retention and be a source of support for those who struggle with our crazy life as nursing students.
- Promote the positive image of nursing students.
- Be responsible for the organization of projects to recruit and increase the number of men and minorities into nursing programs, and maintain retention of those already enrolled in nursing programs throughout the state.
- Coordinate activities with the NSNA Breakthrough to Nursing Project, and serve as a liaison between NSNA, IANS, and the local school Breakthrough to Nursing
- chairpersons.
- Serve as chairperson of the Breakthrough to Nursing Committee, which is NSNA's program, designed to recruit students into nursing.

- Hello everyone! My name is En-Yu Wu, I also go by Samuel or Sam. I am a senior nursing student at the University of Dubuque, also serving as the president for the SNA chapter in UD. I am originally from Taiwan, I moved to Dubuque, Iowa my freshman year in high school in 2013, and I have been here since. I would like to go back to Taiwan one day and give back by using my knowledge and skills in nursing. My dream job is to be a flight nurse as I am also very interested in the aviation world. On the other hand, I also am finding more interest in public health nursing. I am very excited to serve as the COSP Director for the 2020-2021 school year in IANS, because I love to connect people to each other, to encourage collaboration, and to simply see great people and great things come together. Looking forward to working with you all!

Disaster Relief Director: Kaitlyn Tooley

- Kaitlyn is a junior nursing student at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. Kaitlyn has been a volunteer firefighter/EMT for over 6 years and has found a deep passion in critical care. After graduation, Kaitlyn plans to work in an ER and ICU to gain some experience, and eventually become a flight nurse. Outside of school and work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors (especially on the water in the summer), and staying active. Kaitlyn is excited to be on the IANS board and serve as this year's Disaster Relief Director.
- Promote awareness of nursing and its role in disaster relief.
- Monitor awareness of current disaster relief affecting nursing, nursing students, and health care.
- Encourage and communicate with schools to participate in a disaster relief program.
- Encourage and aid its constituents in becoming disaster certified.
- Directors shall perform such duties as assigned by the President in accordance with the priorities and needs of the association.

- I am a first year nursing student at the University of Iowa. While I’m feeling out which path in nursing I am going to take, I know that I have a strong interest in health policy and reform as well as education in this field. I am looking forward to working alongside fellow nursing students to continue to educate ourselves and others of the happenings in our career field as well as in our organization.
- Review and recommend for changes in the bylaws and policies and procedures.
- Monitor awareness of current legislation affecting nursing, nursing students, and
health care. - Encourage and aid in writing resolutions relating to legislative business.
